We are unwavering in our belief that everythingbegins and ends with Jesus.
Whether you believe like we do that the salvation of the world came through Jesus Christ, or not, there’s no way to deny that the world is different because of Him. Here’s what we believe: Just like he changed the world, He can, and will change you. You’ve just got to let Him.
We believe that it’s only through faith in Jesus Christ that a person can be saved. To us, Jesus isn’t simply a teacher, or a “good man.” Just as John 14:6 so famously claims, He is “the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through” Him.
About now, if you haven’t already, you’re asking yourself what we all ask ourselves at some point. Sounds good, but what does that have to do with me? We’re glad you asked. Salvation has everything to do with YOU. Jesus, God in the flesh, came to Earth and died for you. In doing so, He erased any sin or bondage that tries to control your life. With Christ, you don’t have to live in fear of your past, your mistakes, or the person you used to be. Through the love of Jesus Christ, you can be set free.
The cool thing though is that it doesn’t stop there. Not only does Jesus come to give us this “new” life, John 10:10 says that He comes so that we can have life to the FULL. God has a specific plan and purpose for your life because you are unique and special to Him in ways you can’t imagine. And it’s His desire that you live inside of that plan and purpose so that He can bless you.
And here’s the most comforting thing of all of this. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to measure up to a religious set of standards you’ve heard in church before. You just have to be willing to take a step.
— Romans 10:9 —
The first step is for you to say to Jesus, “Take control, you are in control of my life.” The second step is just like Romans says. Believe. If you take those two simple steps, your life will never be the same. It’s as simple as turning from your sins and mistakes, letting Jesus take control, and believing in Him.
This is probably all new to you, but the other beauty of salvation is the family that you were just adopted in to! We’d love to help in any way we can, so feel free to contact us or check out one of our weekends here at CityHope.
