QUESTION 1: The world has been glued to the Winter Olympics, which just celebrated its Closing Ceremony. If you had the chance to represent your country in one olympic sport, what would you choose? Explain your choice.

STATEMENT: If there is one area of agreement across our nation right now, it is that something has gone wrong. Whether you are new to our land or have ancestral roots that go back generations, the heart that God’s people carry for their country is evident. It hurts to see our country hurt. Many find themselves asking, “How do we get onto the path of healing?” The great news is that we do not have to look to a politician, a political party, or a think-tank - we can look at an exact “prescription” in God’s Word, given to us for times like these.

QUESTION 2: One of the first instructions God gives is for His people to “humble themselves”. What does it look like when an individual truly humbles themselves? Why do you feel that this is so important to God?

STATEMENT: Immediately after instructing His people to humble themselves, God then turns the focus of His instructions towards prayer and seeking His face. When it comes to prayer, a trap that is quite easy to fall into is approaching God (in prayer) with a defined solution in mind.

QUESTION 3: In Proverbs 3, we are given a challenging directive: To trust in the Lord with ALL of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. What kind of “ready made” solutions do you find yourself coming to God with?

QUESTION 4: What comes to mind when you hear the phrase: “Seek His Face”? When do you find yourself most motivated to pursue God?

FINAL STATEMENT: The final item given to us is to turn from our wicked ways. In the original language, this word “turn” carried with it the need to change our thinking from thinking that is world-influenced to thinking that is God-influenced. The truth is simply that as a man thinks, so is he! It is in resting in His Words and speaking His truth that our thinking will be transformed. This is why we, as a group, are going to go to God in an uncommon prayer.

GROUP PRAYER: “Heavenly Father we are grateful that we can come to You and know that we are heard. You told us in Your Word that we should pray first of all for kings/rulers who are in authority. Lord, we declare that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. We are a blessed nation and in this unfolding season we are going to see the blessing of the Lord return to our government, our leaders, our businesses, our churches, our towns, and cities. As we pray for our nation and its leaders, we acknowledge that it is by Your mercy that we have been saved as a nation and positioned for a season of blessings to continue to bring honor to the one true God. We declare that righteous rules, laws, ordinances, judgments, and justice shall return to our judicial system and our nation and that righteousness shall prosper. We declare that our president, his advisers, his cabinet and national leadership team shall be filled with the Spirit of revelation, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. We declare and decree today that it is not by might, it is not by power, but it is by your Spirit. And so we speak to every mountain in this nation, saying, “You shall become a plain.”
