“I Thank God” and “Reign Above it All”
Week 1
What kids learned: Moses and the Exodus – Exodus 4-14
Questions: What did God tell Moses when He spoke through the burning bush? (He told him to go back to Egypt to free the Israelites)
Why do you think Pharaoh and his army were trying to stop Moses from obeying God? (Pharaoh’s heart was hard and prideful. He did not want to free the people of Israel from slavery.)
Main Point: I will not be controlled by emotions.
Week 2
What kids learned: The Good Samaritan – Luke 10:25-37
Questions: Who helped the injured man on the side of the road? The Samaritan Man
Why was Jesus telling this story to the man who asked him about how to inherit eternal life? The man already knew what the law said. He knew that we should love God with all of our hearts and love our neighbor. Through this story, Jesus was explaining who we should consider to be our neighbors. We should love others in the way the Samaritan man showed love to the injured man on the side of the road.
Main Point: I will put others before myself.
Week 3
What kids learned: Samson – Judges 13-16
Questions: Why did God allow the people of Israel to be captured by the Philistines, who treated them badly for 40 years? (After God brought His people into the promised land, the Israelites turned away from Him and did much evil.)
Why was it important that Samson’s hair should never be cut? (Before Samson was born, an angel appeared to his Mother and told her that she will have a son. The angel told her that her son’s hair should never be cut, for he will be dedicated to God as a Nazarite, and he will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.)
Main Point: When I am weak, God is strong.
Week 4
What kids learned: The thankful leper – Luke 17:11-19
Questions: In our story today, Jesus healed 10 men of a terrible sickness that could be caught very easily. What was that sickness called? (Leprosy)
How were people with leprosy treated? (They were called unclean and no one wanted to be close to them. They were sent outside of the places that they lived.)
How many of the lepers that Jesus healed came back to him to say thank you? (Only one. Jesus told him that His faith had healed him.)
Main Point: I will use my emotions for good.
